Dominic Raab: Tory rebel is brought back into the fold
Mr Raab, who has been rather a thorn in Mr Cameron’s side with rebellions over human rights laws has been brought into the ministry of justice under the leadership of Michael Gove.
Last year David Cameron was forced to rely on Lib Dems and Labour to block Mr Raab’s an amendment intended to make it harder for foreign criminals to avoid deportation – even though Mr Cameron had said the plan was unlawful.
In the end moer than 90 Conservative MPs voted for it.
His introduction into the department of justice could be an effort at keeping your enemies, or at least one of your most wayward critics, close or it could be a signal that the Government is getting serious on it’s manifesto pledge to scrap the human rights act and replace it with a British bill of rights.
