Cameron letter to Southampton residents spelled constituency wrong three times
Meanwhile in Southampton the Conservatives are coming in for some stick after sending out a publicity letter from David Cameron to the people of Southampton which spelled part of the name of the constituency, Itchen, wrongly three times.
Critics have said the blunder, in a hotly contested constituency, has been branded embarrassing.
However the Conservative candidate for Itchen, Royston Smith, played down the error: “I don’t think it’s terribly helpful, however these things happen when you are in the heat of a General Election campaign and you are sending out millions of letters.”
Kim Rose, UKIP’s candidate for the seat, told the Souther Daily Echo: “Quite frankly I don’t care how people spell Itchen, he’s made the mistake, but I am not going to pull David Cameron to bits over getting a spelling wrong.”
