David Cameron: Labour are ‘chaotic’ over nom doms
The prime minister said the confusion over the policy – the Conservatives have been pointing to a film of Ed Balls suggesting abolishing nom doms would cost the UK economy – showed Labour were not “capable and competent” on the economy.
Ed Balls says that the footage was taken out of context while Labour were still developing its policy and does not conflict with the decision to abolish non dom status.
Mr Cameron told Sky News: “What we have seen from Labour this morning is frankly pretty chaotic. On the one hand saying they want to get rid of non-dom status but on the other hand saying that if they did so it would cost the country money…
“And this goes to a bigger issue, which is when you see such confusion over a policy like this, are these people really capable and competent of running an economy? And I think people conclude, no they are not.”
The other key question: do the Conservatives have a billboard-paster on permanent standby?
