Two kitchens debate: Sun says Ed Miliband has one just for the nanny
After a political fad in March to show leaders in their kitchens, The Sun reports that one of Ed Miliband’s two kitchens is set aside for the family nanny.
“We DO have to kitchens… nanny uses the one downstairs,” reads its front page headline.
The Sun quotes a TV interview in which Mr Miliband “admits his children’s carer cooks in the basement, while he and wife Justine use a kitchen upstairs in their four-storey London home”.
It says the set-up carries “shades of TV’s Downton Abbey”, only days after the Labour leader “intensified his war on the ‘rich and powerful'”.
But Mr Miliband laughed off the kitchen focus last night, telling ITV’s Tonight programme: “It comes with the territory; the kitchen makes me laugh, honestly. Quite a lot of it makes me laugh.
“I care about the argument about what I’m putting forward for the country.”
