Jeremy Hunt: ‘Debates are important for democracy’ but David Cameron won’t be taking part

Jeremy Hunt, the Conservative health secretary, has been on the radio to say that these debates are an important part of democracy and will show the country the options if they don’t vote Conservatives.

Labour are furious with this assessment and say that if the Conservatives really think this is a matter of democracy then David Cameron should have turned up for the debate.
