Smaller debate, bigger debates
The format is working better than last time – it is easier for the leaders to speak to each other and get into proper debates and arguments rather than explaining their own rehearsed policies over and over again.
We have already seen a couple of knock down rows on welfare – everyone except Nigel Farage rounding on Ed – and on housing – where Nigel Farage rounded on the audience and everyone rounded on him.
Meanwhile Nick Clegg has been tweeting his annoyance at not being included, although looking at how much of a hard time the Labour leader is getting it would be a tough job being the sole representative of Government. He may also be breathing a sigh of relief.
