Polls back Labour claim that debates would make Miliband look like prime minister material

Labour have been spinning the idea that Ed Miliband appearing on this platform made him look like the only possible Prime Minister and therefore the only alternative to David Cameron.

However that’s not quite fair – many people didn’t know who Natalie Bennett and Leanne Wood were and are getting used to having Nicola Sturgeon having any bearing on politics outside of Scotland. It would have been terrible news if, in that field, he didn’t come out on top.

In fact it is notable that 25 per cent of people think Sturgeon would make the best Prime Minister of the UK.
