What is Ed Miliband actually going to say?
Everyone is very angry this morning about what Ed Miliband may or may not say this morning about David Cameron’s responsibility, direct or indirect, for the deaths of thousands of migrants in the Med.
Last night it was briefed that he will say this:
He will say the refugee crisis and tragic scenes this week in the Mediterranean are in part a direct result of the failure of post conflict planning for Libya.
David Cameron was wrong to assume that Libya’s political culture and institutions could be left to evolve and transform on their own.
The tragedy is this should have been anticipated, it could have been avoided.
The Conservatives seem particularly upset (or at least election upset) about the “direct result” comment and the decision to mention the Conservative leader by name in this context.
Labour peer Stewart Wood is sharing this extract, the “direct result” comment is conspicuously missing.
