David Cameron: Ed Miliband’s claims about Med migrants were ‘ill judged’
David Cameron is asked about Ed MIliband’s comments on his “direct” responsibility for the deaths in the Mediterranean, he says the comments were “ill judged”.
He says he has learnt as Prime Minister that it is “very important in a dangerous and uncertain world that you show clarity, consistency and strength on these foreign policy issues”
“Frankly people will look at these ill-judged remarks and they will reach their own conclusions,” he adds.
More generally he adds: “Let me deal first of all with the tragic situation in the Mediterranean, the loss of life has been appalling and it is right that we act.
“Yesterday at the European council meeting I proposed HMS Bulwark the Royal Navy’s flagship and cutters to come and help and important work done by helicopters, so that we play, as Britain always does, our full role in helping out with this very, very difficult very, very pressing issue.”
