Ed Miliband: Conservatives are putting the “family budget” at risk
Both Labour and the Conservatives are making their pitch for the control of our family finances this morning as we approach the landmark of one week to polling day.
Ed Miliband will say that Conservative plans to reduce welfare by £12 billion could leave families with two children up to £2,000 worse off.
At an event in London alongside Ed Balls and Rachel Reeves, Mr Miliband will say: “I am here to reveal the truth: if the Tories get back in on May 8th your family budget is at risk. Another five years of Tory government will mean a plan to double the pace of cuts next year, a plan that puts your family budget, your NHS and our country’s future at risk.”
The Conservatives responded to the speech by saying there was “one guaranteed risk to working people’s finances – Ed Miliband, propped up by the SNP”.
