Three million people have already voted
John Turner, who runs the returning officers’ organisation – the Association of Electoral Administrators – has just estimated to me that around 3 million people will now have cast their vote in the 2015 General Election – by postal ballot.
If that’s true then it amounts to ten per cent or more of the likely total turnout.
So time is running out for the politicians to persuade increasing numbers of voters.
Experts reckon that in 2015 more than 20 per cent of votes will be cast by post, a higher proportion than ever before.
