Last day of campaigning: party leaders still on the stump
One of the closest general elections in recent memory reaches its last full day of campaigning, as the leaders of the two main parties take it down to the wire.
Labour leader Ed Miliband told reporters: “I’m going to right up to the line, right down to the wire talking about the issues that matter to the British people, which is the NHS, their family finances, whether they can pay the bills at the end of the month, those bread and butter issues that matter most to the British people.”
Tory leader David Cameron visited an Asda depot overnight, and in a slightly more familial turn talked about his wife Samantha and how their children have got involved in the campaign.
“Of course they want Dad to win for the blue team,” he said.
“They have got very engaged and Samantha has been out campaigning and canvassing, and she has really enjoyed it.”
