Labour go into overdrive in effort to protect their man from difficult questions
Safety first has been the watch word of this campaign for the main parties and Labour seemed to go into overdrive today to protect their man.
Turning up at an advertised meeting for Labour supporters in Pudsey Michael Crick and myself were far from welcome.
We couldn’t bring our camera into the hall and it was “ridiculous” to request a question with the Labour leader “24 hours before a general election”.
The Labour press officer then told us to leave and called Michael Crick a rude word: Hint, it rhymes with Crick.
Eventually this was calmed down as Labour’s senior media manager arrived and said that we would be allowed into the event and apologised for the junior press officer’s behaviour.
Having travelled from the southern tip of Cornwall to Leeds in order to cover the man who could in two days be Prime Minster this was disheartening to say the least.
