Douglas Carswell has won his seat for Ukip
He has won in Clacton with 19,642 to the Conservatives 16,205 – but his majority has been depleted.
He says to the people of Clacton “you are my boss and I will never forget that”. No mention of his other boss Nigel Farage though.
He is talking about the “dysfunctional” political system. He says 4x votes for Ukip and Greens than for the SNP and yet SNP will get many more seats.
He says that parties who enter into discussions should be “modest” to recognise that people feel unrepresented.
“The time for political reform is now, Westminster has become a cartel”.
