Nigel Farage fails to be elected MP
Ukip leader Nigel Farage has failed in his bid to be elected as MP for Thanet South in Kent, losing to Conservative Craig Mackinlay by almost 3,000 votes.
He said before the election that he would stand down as leader if he was not elected to parliament.
Just one Ukip MP was elected: Douglas Carswell in Clacton. But the party received 13 per cent of the national vote.
