Nigel Farage resigns
Ukip leader Nigel Farage has resigned after failing to win the South Thanet seat.
“On a professional level, I express today a degree of disappointment,” he said.
“On a personal level, I feel an enormous weight has been lifted from my shoulders, and I’ve never felt happier.”
He announced before the 7 May election that he would quit if he did not make it to Westminster.
