Danish PM celebrates election of hubby Stephen Kinnock
Helle Thorning-Schmidt, the prime minister of Denmark, has celebrated the election of her husband to the House of Commons.
Stephen Kinnock – none other than son of former Labour leader Neil Kinnock – was elected for the Aberavon constituency in South Wales, winning 49 per cent of the vote for Labour.
He becomes the second generation of Kinnocks to see predicted victory slip through Labour’s fingers, after his father led Labour to their 1992 defeat at the hands of John Major and the Tories, who won by just a few seats.
