Cameron’s cabinet appointments
Prime Minister David Cameron has announced his first cabinet appointments after his election victory – and there are no changes.
I have re-appointed George Osborne as Chancellor of the Exchequer. He will also be First Secretary of State – the ranking Cabinet Minister.

George Osborne, whose “long-term economic plan” was at the centre of the Conservatives’ election campaign, and Theresa May remain as chancellor and home secretary respectively.
Mr Osborne becomes the most senior cabinet minister under the prime minister after being given the first secretary of state title previously held by William Hague, Peter Mandelson, John Prescott and Michael Heseltine.
Philip Hammond remains as foreign secretary. He will play a key part in Mr Cameron’s plans to renegotiate Britain’s relationship with the European Union ahead of an in/out referendum by the end of 2017.
Michael Fallon will continue as defence secretary.
