Baker Balls
Lucky for Labour’s shadow chancellor a Ukip candidate proved a useful test case for the rules governing handing out edible treats on the campaign trail.
Kim Rose, standing in Southampton Itchen, was told to report to police over allegations he tried to influence voters with sausage rolls.
Although no further action was taken Mr Rose said he would be “giving bakers a wide berth in future”.
The electoral commission pointed out: “Treating requires a corrupt intent – it does not apply to ordinary hospitality.”
So can you save me a cake Mr Balls?
